SONOVERSE · FUTURE GEN PRESS LLC
Privacy Policy
Effective October 5, 2026
1. Who we are
Future Gen Press LLC operates Sonoverse at sonoverse.app and is based in California, United States. This Policy covers information handled through our website, reading application, account tools, and support channels.
For privacy questions or requests about your or your child's information, contact hello@sonoverse.app. External websites and services you visit through a link have their own privacy practices.
2. Adult setup and child readers
A parent or legal guardian must arrange the child's access and manage the account. Children may use reading features without a parent watching each session after setup. Children do not need a separate email account to read.
During setup, the adult is asked to confirm they are the child's parent or guardian and accept the Privacy Policy and Terms before saving the child's plan. The Grown-Up Launch Code controls access to grown-up tools. Browser microphone permission is a separate device control.
Parents may ask to review, correct, delete, or stop further collection or use of their child's personal information. We may verify the requester's authority before acting. Features that need the information may become unavailable if collection is stopped. See the request steps below. A teacher's use of a family account does not itself establish school authorization for collection.
3. Information we collect
The information involved depends on the features used:
- Adult account and setup: email, account name, authentication and account identifiers, guardian acknowledgment, membership choices, and email preferences.
- Reader setup: a first name or nickname, required current age in whole years, grade, reading stage, goals, interests, practice preferences, and placement answers supplied during setup. We do not request a full birth date. Age is recorded as supplied at signup; it is not an exact birth year or a continuously updated age.
- Reading activity: book and lesson activity, completion records, practice attempts, reading-check scores, word feedback, story answers, progress, rewards, and timing.
- Voice and answers: microphone audio for reading checks; text produced from spoken answers; typed or selected answers; and related feedback.
- Custom books: prompts, themes, character choices, edited text, drafts, generated pictures, narration, and finished books.
- Billing: Stripe customer, subscription, and invoice identifiers, plan and payment status, charge and refund information. Payment details are entered through Stripe.
- Support: the adult's name, email, subject, message, request status, and email replies, including quoted history the sender includes.
- Technical and operational records: browser or device information, request and error details, security records, usage identifiers, and service-provider usage. Hosting and other providers may process IP addresses and request metadata while operating the service.
Scores, reports, and feedback are generated information, not only details that you type. Account-linked data is not anonymous merely because a report omits a name.
4. How we use information
We use information to provide and protect accounts, choose a reading starting point, run activities, save progress and books, score reading, respond to story answers, generate reports, and provide custom-book features.
We also use it to manage memberships, process and reconcile payments, answer support requests, send account and service notices, understand service use, detect errors or misuse, manage provider costs where enabled, and meet legal or accounting obligations.
Optional product emails are separate from service messages. We do not sell personal information or use child information for behavioral advertising.
5. Microphone audio and spoken answers
Reading checks: when a reader uses a voice check, the app sends the recording and reference text to SpeechAce for pronunciation and reading feedback. The app stores resulting scores and report data. Retained reading-check recordings can be reviewed by teachers and used to build and improve Sonoverse's own reading-recognition technology, including training its speech models. Reading-check collection is included with your account under the Terms and Privacy Policy accepted at signup. It applies to active accounts without a separate recording opt-in. To end participation, delete your account in My Account. Recordings are never sold. Outside services receive audio only to provide a feature you use, such as SpeechAce scoring.
Recording retention: Test recordings are deleted when verification finishes. Rejected or unusable recordings are deleted within 30 days of rejection. Ungraded recordings expire 90 days after recording. Useful, consented graded recordings and word labels are kept for at most 24 months after recording, and deleted sooner when no longer needed. Grading, export and import never restart that clock. Account deletion triggers earlier cleanup. Parent progress summaries follow their separate account policy and are not erased just because raw audio expires.
Deleting your account stops new recording collection immediately and starts cleanup of retained audio, teacher reviews, and associated copies. Cleanup retries until removal is verified. Exported and imported copies receive deletion notices and require operator verification. This policy does not promise that every provider, temporary system, or log retains no audio.
Spoken story answers: speech-recognition tools turn speech into text. Where supported, the browser may process speech locally; other browsers or settings can use the browser provider's online speech service. The resulting answer text can be saved and sent to an AI provider for feedback. Typed answers can also be saved and processed this way.
Some active lesson flows keep microphone access open between attempts. Leaving the activity or closing the tab ends that session; you can also revoke site microphone permission in the browser. Book reading and word audio can be used without recording, but voice checks and some guided steps require a microphone.
Provider processing and retention depend on the service used. Contact us for questions about a specific activity or to request review or deletion. Do not assume all voice processing stays on the device or that a saved transcript disappears when recording stops.
6. AI feedback, reports, and book creation
Story feedback can send story context, the question, and the reader's answer to an AI service. Daily reports use structured saved activity to generate a summary; report prompts are designed to omit reader names, but the underlying activity still relates to the reader.
Custom-book tools send the prompts, text, and other inputs needed to write stories, create illustrations, check content, and generate narration. Different features may use different providers listed below. Do not include sensitive family details in answers or prompts.
AI results can be wrong or incomplete. These features support practice and do not make a formal school or clinical assessment. This Policy does not promise zero provider retention, universal on-device processing, or that every provider uses the same training and logging settings.
7. Services that help us operate Sonoverse
The relevant provider receives information needed for its feature. Our service paths include:
- Supabase: account authentication, database records, and stored content.
- Vercel: website and application hosting, requests, and operational records.
- Stripe: checkout, subscription management, invoices, payments, and refunds.
- SpeechAce: reading-check audio, reference text, and scoring.
- OpenAI: story-answer feedback, activity summaries, and image or content-processing features, depending on the operation.
- Moonshot/Kimi: custom-story writing through the configured writing service.
- Anthropic: an alternate story-writing service when that writing path is used.
- ElevenLabs: generated narration and voice assets from the text supplied for narration; this is separate from SpeechAce reading-check recordings.
- Resend: account and support email delivery and support reply processing.
- Your browser or device speech provider: speech recognition for spoken answers when online recognition is used.
Not every provider receives information on every visit. A writing provider may receive a grown-up's custom-book prompt without receiving a child's reading-check audio. Providers have their own processing systems and applicable terms; contact us about a specific data flow. Links to IMSE and UFLI resources do not make those organizations Sonoverse service providers.
10. Internal usage analytics
When enabled, limited usage records help us understand signup, reading activity, and service performance through an owner-only reporting dashboard. Records include general page and signup-step visits, time on completed steps, membership choices, invitation-check outcomes, account creation and sign-in, lesson attempts and completions, library reading activity, reading checks, and report opens.
Speech-check analytics records a success or general failure category and response-time band without the submitted text or audio. Provider-cost analytics, when enabled, records the provider and model, usage counts, general outcome, and an operation identifier. An account reporting timezone helps count reading days; it is not precise location tracking.
These analytics events do not copy names, email addresses, setup answers, invitation codes, passwords, prompts, stories, responses, recordings, or transcripts. That exclusion applies to analytics events, not to the separate product records needed for those features. We do not use advertising pixels, fingerprinting, or session replay for this analytics system.
Anonymous event history is kept for up to 90 days and account-linked event history for up to 13 months. Basic signup attribution remains until account deletion. Deleting an account removes its linked usage analytics.
11. Optional parent check-ins
The grown-up area may offer a weekly usefulness rating from 1 to 5 and an optional structured improvement choice. Answering is optional. These check-ins do not request free-text feedback.
We record check-in offers and report opens. These account-linked events follow the same 13-month retention and account-deletion rules as other usage events, and appear in owner aggregate reports. Support messages are a separate channel and may contain free text.
12. Retention and deletion
Account and reader information, saved answers, progress, books, and drafts are kept while needed to provide the account and requested features. Support records are kept as needed to handle requests and related follow-up. We also retain information where needed for legal duties, security, accounting, or disputes. We do not intend to retain a child's information indefinitely for an unspecified future purpose.
Analytics has the specific time limits listed above. Financial records are separate. When financial reporting is enabled, it can retain invoice and refund identifiers, amounts, currencies, service dates, fees, and subscription categories. Records needed for billing or legal obligations may remain after account deletion, with the account link removed where appropriate. Provider-usage records are removed with the account and otherwise limited to 13 months.
Deletion from active application records is not a promise of immediate erasure from every backup, email copy, log, browser store, or outside provider. Those systems can have separate retention and deletion processes. For a request, we will explain applicable scope and any lawful retention limits. You can ask about a particular category using the contact below.
13. Parent choices and privacy requests
Email hello@sonoverse.app, preferably from the account email, to request access, correction, deletion, information about processing, or a stop to further collection or use of your child's information. Tell us what account or records the request concerns without sending passwords, PINs, or identity documents in the first message.
We will take reasonable steps to verify identity and authority and respond as required by applicable law. Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have additional rights to receive a copy of data, object to processing, or limit certain uses. We will consider those requests under the applicable requirements.
You can request account deletion in My Account → Delete account after unlocking the grown-up area and confirming the request. Collection stops immediately. A retryable cleanup process cancels active subscriptions and verifies removal of retained recordings and owned files before removing the account and its saved progress. The page reports a saved request, not an unverified completion. Export operators must confirm their separate copies. Account deletion does not issue a refund; financial records follow the separate policy above. For requests sent by email, ask us to confirm billing status rather than assuming the email canceled a subscription.
14. Email preferences
You can change Product news and tips in My Account and save the setting. Optional marketing preferences do not control necessary account, security, billing, and support messages.
Support email replies can be added to the request history, including text you quote. Incoming attachments are not imported into the in-app support conversation, but an email system may still process the email and its attachments. Avoid sending sensitive child information or recordings through ordinary support email.
15. Security and processing locations
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information. Access to account and reader records is limited through account and staff access controls. No online system can guarantee absolute security.
Future Gen Press LLC is based in the United States, and the service uses providers with infrastructure in different locations. Information may be processed outside your state or country. This Policy does not promise that every record stays in California or in a single processing region. Contact us for questions about a particular provider or transfer.
16. Policy changes
We will post updates here and change the effective date. For material changes, including changes to children's information practices, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent when required by law. Posting a policy alone does not replace any legally required notice or permission.
