SONOVERSE · FUTURE GEN PRESS LLC
Terms of Use
Effective October 5, 2026
1. Who these Terms apply to
These Terms govern use of the Sonoverse website and reading application (the Service). “We,” “us,” and “our” mean Future Gen Press LLC. “You” means the adult account holder or other person using the Service. The adult who creates or manages an account accepts these Terms and arranges authorized access for a child reader.
The account holder must be at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement. A child does not create an independent account or enter a payment agreement. During signup, the parent or guardian accepts these Terms and the Privacy Policy, including the recording uses disclosed beside the agreement checkbox: reading feedback, retention for teacher review, and development of Sonoverse's reading-recognition technology through speech-model training. Retained reading-check recordings can be reviewed by teachers and used to build and improve Sonoverse's own reading-recognition technology, including training its speech models.
We record the agreement version and acceptance time. Accepting the signup agreement does not replace any additional notice or verifiable parental consent required by law. Reading-check collection is included with your account under the Terms and Privacy Policy accepted at signup. It applies to active accounts without a separate recording opt-in. To end participation, delete your account in My Account. For questions or help with account deletion, contact hello@sonoverse.app. The separate Book Notice & License describes book reuse.
2. Adult setup and children's use
An adult must complete initial setup and arrange the child's access. After setup, children may use available reading features independently. We do not require a parent to supervise every reading session.
The adult manages account details, privacy permissions, purchases, and the Grown-Up Launch Code. A parent or legal guardian must authorize a child's access. If you assist a family as a teacher or tutor, you must have the necessary authority and permissions. A family account does not establish a school service agreement or school consent process.
The current beta is built around one child per account. Do not use a single reader's progress record as separate records for multiple children.
3. Accounts and security
Provide accurate account information and a working adult email address. Keep your password, confirmation links, and Grown-Up Launch Code private. Take reasonable care of shared devices and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
The Launch Code protects access to grown-up features. It is not a substitute for your account password or any legally required parental consent. You can recover account access using the available password and Launch Code recovery tools. Do not sell account access or bypass plan and access controls.
4. Reading support and its limits
Sonoverse provides books, reading practice, guided activities, games, speech feedback, story questions, progress tools, and optional custom-book tools. Features depend on the plan, device, and current availability.
Scores, placement suggestions, reports, and automated feedback describe app activity and may be incomplete or inaccurate. They are not a diagnosis, a formal school assessment, or a guarantee of a reading outcome. Sonoverse does not diagnose or treat dyslexia, speech conditions, or other medical or learning conditions. Consult an appropriate teacher or qualified professional when needed.
5. Independence from IMSE and UFLI
Sonoverse is independently operated by Future Gen Press LLC. Our books and activities are independently developed and are not official IMSE or UFLI curriculum materials. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or approved by either organization.
Our text checker lets parents and educators compare text with scope-and-sequence references that IMSE and UFLI share online at no cost. “Official” in a reference selector identifies the comparison reference; it does not describe Sonoverse's books as official materials. Comparisons and alignment descriptions do not imply approval or certification. The organizations' names and marks belong to their respective owners.
Explore the UFLI Foundations Toolbox and IMSE's scope-and-sequence resources. The IMSE page includes grade-level resource links. Public access does not give Sonoverse permission to relicense those organizations' materials.
6. Plans and usage limits
Current plans and prices are shown on Plans & pricing and before checkout. Basic Reader provides library access and word audio. Elite Reader adds guided reading and related features. Elite Reader Plus adds custom-book tools.
Plus includes 30 story generations per calendar month. The allowance resets on the first day of each month in UTC, without rollover. In-progress requests can reserve a use. Failed generations do not count toward the final allowance. Deleting a completed book does not restore a generation. Check Membership for your account's access.
7. Payment and automatic renewal
Stripe processes subscription payments. The price, billing interval, and amount due are shown before you complete checkout. A paid subscription renews automatically at the stated interval until canceled. Choosing a plan during setup does not itself complete a purchase or grant paid access.
You authorize the recurring charges you agree to at checkout. Keep payment information current. Failed or incomplete payments may interrupt paid access. Any future price changes will be disclosed with the notice and choices required by applicable law. We do not treat accepting these Terms alone as authorization for an undisclosed charge.
8. Change or cancel your plan
You can cancel at any time. Open the grown-up dashboard, choose My Account → Membership → Manage billing and invoices, and use the Stripe cancellation controls. Review the end date and complete the confirmation. If you cannot access those controls, contact hello@sonoverse.app for help.
Cancellation stops future renewals. Unless a refund or another stated arrangement ends access sooner, paid access continues until the end of the paid billing period shown in Membership. Signing out, closing the browser, or stopping use does not cancel billing.
For a plan change, review the effective date and any charge or credit shown in the billing portal before confirming. Do not assume all changes take effect immediately. Canceling a subscription and deleting an account are separate actions; ask us to confirm both if you want both.
9. Seven-day full refund policy
You may request a full refund of a Sonoverse subscription payment within seven days of that charge. This applies to both your first purchase and subscription renewals, whether billed monthly or annually. The date you send the request determines whether it is within the seven-day window.
Email hello@sonoverse.app from the account email with the charge date, amount, and invoice reference if available. Do not send full card details. We may verify the payment and account before processing the refund. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method; the time to appear depends on Stripe and your payment provider.
A full refund for the current subscription period ends the paid membership for that period and cancels its future renewal. It does not automatically delete the account or reader data. We will confirm the refund and membership status with you.
After seven days, you can still cancel future renewals and contact us about a billing error or service problem. Refunds outside this policy are reviewed based on the circumstances and any rights required by law. This policy does not limit nonwaivable consumer rights.
10. Invitations and beta features
An invitation may grant access subject to the plan, eligibility, use limits, and dates stated with the invitation. Complimentary access does not itself start a paid subscription. Access described as having no end date still follows plan limits, including custom-book allowances.
Do not misuse, publicly resell, or fraudulently redeem invitation access. Beta features may change or experience errors. Contact support if a promised invitation benefit does not appear on your account.
11. AI-assisted content and feedback
AI tools assist with story text, illustrations, narration, story-answer feedback, and some progress reports. Output may contain errors, unsuitable details, or material similar to other output. We do not promise that every output is unique, copyrightable, or reviewed by a person.
Review custom-book text and pictures before use or sharing. Report inappropriate content, factual errors, or incorrect feedback to support with the book or activity details. Our Privacy Policy explains information used for these features.
12. Books and the application have separate rights
Sonoverse and Future Gen Press LLC do not claim copyright in our books, including their story text and illustrations. The Book Notice & License supplies a conditional Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license only to the extent relevant rights exist and we have authority to license them.
Where no copyright or similar rights exist, credit and noncommercial use are requests, not binding copyright conditions. These Terms do not add a separate contractual restriction to reuse of unprotected book content or restrict rights granted by the applicable Creative Commons license.
Our original software, website design, protectable selection and arrangement of the app and website, and other proprietary elements we own remain separate from the books. All rights are reserved in those elements to the extent owned by Future Gen Press LLC. Third-party materials, user contributions, trademarks, narration, and other assets are not automatically included in the book license. Follow their separate notices.
13. Material you provide
You keep whatever rights you have in original text, images, or other material you submit. Submit only material you are allowed to use. Avoid including a child's sensitive personal information in prompts, book text, or support messages.
You give us the limited permission needed to host, process, reproduce, and adapt your submissions to provide the features you request, including processing by relevant service providers. Saving a private draft does not grant permission to publish it publicly or automatically apply a book license to your original contributions. Our use of personal information remains subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
14. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to break the law, harm or harass others, submit unlawful or infringing content, spread malicious software, interfere with operation, or bypass account, security, or payment controls. Do not attempt to access another family's information without authorization.
Respect the separate rights of other people and providers. Ordinary reuse permitted by the Book Notice & License, the public domain, or applicable legal exceptions is not prohibited by this section.
15. Availability and changes
We may update the Service and its features. Access can be interrupted by maintenance, internet problems, provider failures, or other events. We cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation or permanent storage of every draft.
For material changes to paid services, we will provide notice and any remedies required by applicable law. These Terms do not remove an express offer or a refund right stated elsewhere in this agreement.
16. Ending access or closing an account
You may stop using the Service and request account closure through hello@sonoverse.app. To avoid another subscription charge, cancel renewal through Membership and ask us to confirm billing status as part of closure. Privacy requests are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address a serious Terms violation, fraud, security risk, or legal obligation. Where appropriate and legally permitted, we will explain the reason and give an opportunity to address it. Contact support if you believe access was restricted in error. Any refund or other rights required by law remain available.
17. Disclaimers and responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided as available, without a guarantee of a particular learning result, continuous availability, or complete accuracy of automated content and feedback.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the Service, such as lost profits or business opportunities. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including applicable consumer guarantees or responsibility for fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence. The seven-day refund policy and your nonwaivable legal rights remain in effect.
18. Governing law and resolving concerns
California law and applicable United States federal law govern these Terms, without applying conflict-of-law rules that would displace them. Any mandatory protections under the law applicable to you still apply.
Please contact us first about an account, billing, or service concern so we can try to resolve it. These Terms do not require private arbitration or waive rights that applicable law does not allow you to waive.
19. Changes to these Terms
We will post revised Terms here and update the effective date. We will provide additional notice or seek acceptance when required by law, including for material changes. Changes do not retroactively remove an already-earned refund right or an irrevocable permission granted under a Creative Commons license.
If a provision is unenforceable, the rest of these Terms continues to apply to the extent permitted by law. Failure to enforce a provision on one occasion is not a general waiver.
