Find and read books

What is a decodable book?

A book with many words your child can sound out.

A decodable book uses many words your child can read with skills they have learned. For example, a child who knows the sounds in c, a, and t can blend them to read "cat."

Blending means putting sounds together to read a word.

A book may also include names or words that need extra help. A skill match does not mean every word will be easy for every child.

Choose books by the sounds and spelling patterns your reader knows. Read a book again to build comfort with those words.
