What happens to my child's voice?

Reading checks: a recording and the words to read are sent to SpeechAce. It returns scores and feedback. Sonoverse saves reading results, and recordings can be saved with the account so a real teacher can review them. Recordings are never sold. Outside services receive audio only to provide a feature you use, such as SpeechAce scoring.

Signup agreement: the Terms and Privacy Policy agreement during signup includes reading feedback, retaining recordings for teacher review, and speech-model training. Retained reading-check recordings can be reviewed by teachers and used to build and improve Sonoverse's own reading-recognition technology, including training its speech models. Reading-check collection is included with your account under the Terms and Privacy Policy accepted at signup. It applies to active accounts without a separate recording opt-in. To end participation, delete your account in My Account.

Your child's current age in whole years is required during signup. We do not ask for a full birth date. The signup agreement's version and acceptance time are saved. Test recordings are deleted when verification finishes. Rejected or unusable recordings are deleted within 30 days of rejection. Ungraded recordings expire 90 days after recording. Useful, consented graded recordings and word labels are kept for at most 24 months after recording, and deleted sooner when no longer needed. Grading, export and import never restart that clock. Account deletion triggers earlier cleanup. Parent progress summaries follow their separate account policy and are not erased just because raw audio expires.

Deleting your account stops new recording collection immediately and starts cleanup of retained audio, teacher reviews, and associated copies. Cleanup retries until removal is verified. Exported and imported copies receive deletion notices and require operator verification. Use My Account → Delete account to end participation, or contact hello@sonoverse.app for help. Spoken story answers: speech is turned into text. Depending on your browser, this can use a browser provider's online speech service. The answer text can be saved and sent for AI feedback.

Some activities keep microphone access open between tries. Leave the activity or close the tab to end that session. You can also block microphone access in browser settings.
